The summer build studio has officially begun, and the students are already hard at work on demolition. The existing rickety garage was quickly dismantled, and the students progressed inside to gut the interior spaces. Much of the lumber and other materials will be saved and reused.
The summer build is split into two sections, each five weeks long. Six students are in the first section, three of whom were in the spring design semester as well. They work on-site every afternoon for a full five hours under the careful supervision of Prof. Chris Maurer, the project architect.
We're still waiting for the City to issue our final construction permit, but there's plenty to do in the meantime. Check back or take a spin through the neighborhood to see how our students are progressing!
